BREAKOUTS

Encouragement for the Journey of Grief, Suffering, and Loss

Since the Fall in Genesis 3, life on earth is filled with a myriad of trouble and trials. Things too painful to discuss. Others, expected, therefore we move on too quickly. We’re promised victory in our suffering, but how? What’s the point? Listen to the stories of four women who have experienced incredible pain in recent years yet have resolved to set their hope in the things not of this world, but in the eternal. Their testimonies of grace and perseverance serve as lives built on a sure foundation in Christ Jesus when it would be easy, even expected, to crumble and crash to the ground.

Let Me Be a Woman: Freedom in Biblical Womanhood & Submission

In a world that wars against gender identity, politicizes what it means to be male and female, and seeks to dismiss submission to authority, we want to live as those who believe God’s good plan for women. In this breakout, we will dive into what Scripture says about what it means to be a woman. Throughout the Bible, we see women working within their created roles and distinct responsibilities to fulfill the mission of God, and they are esteemed with great value by Jesus, Paul, and several others. As we seek to not conform to the pattern of the world, let’s learn how to live free in our womanhood.

Renewing Your Mind: Breaking Free in your Thought Life

We are in a race for our attention. Who will get it? How long will they keep us? What value will they bring us? Of course, “they” is abstract. It’s no one particular person or group of people, rather an entire society enticing, luring, and promoting the thing that “they” promise to satisfy, to fulfill, and to give us life. As women who have committed to follow Jesus, it is our responsibility to guard who or what wins our attention. However, before it ever gets to our hearts, the pull begins in our minds. Through Scripture and practical tools, learn how to train your mind to be focused on the things of God, present to the moment, and free of the distractions of the age. In this renewal of our minds, we are guaranteed the promise of God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for our lives.

Women in the Workforce

For generations, women have made incredible strides within the workforce as CEO’s, educators, medical professionals, counselors, VPs of major corporations, and much more. The discipline and efforts of these have paved a path for working women to enter spaces that were otherwise reserved for men. But at what cost? Would she lose her family? Would the guilt of working outside the home overwhelm her? Come find out how the Gospel offers balance and breakthrough in this area of our lives. Like the Proverbs 31 woman, we can be women who strive for excellence in our careers AND women who “watch over the affairs of our household” and “fear the Lord.”

Unraveling Roots of Bitterness, Unforgiveness, and Disappointment

It begins as a circumstance — a happening in our lives, whether to us, in us, or because of us. It’s a moment that has the ability to change the trajectory of our lives. A seed that sends roots into the soil of our hearts producing countless emotions that end up determining the way in which we view God, neighbors, and ourselves. We become bitter and angry, disappointed our lives didn’t turn out the way we expected, and all the while, unwilling to forgive those who did us harm, God who didn’t give us what we asked for, or ourselves for the mess we made. Is it possible to uproot these emotional dispositions? With a resounding cry, we say “yes!” Hear from women who have done the hard work of finding freedom and learn how you can experience it too.

How the Gospel Moves Us from Spiritual Complacency to Awakened Passion

We’ve all been there. Attending church out of habit, drudging through a Bible reading plan, and a striving in our own strength. All the while we feel stuck in our faith. But what would happen if we had a deep conviction that God was real and Jesus was coming back? That we were dead in our trespasses and sins and made alive through the atoning work of Christ on the cross? What if we truly believed the call on our lives as believers is to die to self and leave behind the comfort of cultural Christianity? That it is not enough to believe we’re saved from eternal death rather that we’re saved for service to a better Master? When the Gospel takes deep root in our lives, and these things take place, we will begin to see a spiritual awakening. An awakening that moves from complacency, apathy, and comfortability of our present life to passion, affection, and obedience to a Triune God. As Elisabeth Eliot writes, “I have one desire now - to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it.”
