Fool | Faith or Fool?

To show that the path of wisdom is the path God desires for us. That all wisdom comes from God.

These are meant to spark conversation within your group. Use one, use none, or use them all. Most importantly feel out where your group is at and get them talking. You can find some ice breaker games / discussions in the leader hub as well!

  • What is one of the funniest mistakes you’ve ever made? (walked into the wrong bathroom, threw something important away, forgot your younger brother in a store).

  • Whats the funniest story you’ve heard of someone doing something foolish?

  • What does the word “FOOL” mean to you?

Encourage your Crew to open their Bibles (or app) and ask one of them to read the passage.

  • The writer here says that the fear of God leads to wisdom. Fear here means knowing that God is the ultimate authority. That we respect God, that we look to God is everything. That we put God in his rightful place in our lives. Why do you think those things lead to wisdom?

  • Why do you think people would “reject” or “despise” wisdom?

Often we reject wisdom or God’s word for our lives because it could mean that we need to change some things about us. God wants to pour wisdom into our lives through his word, worship, and through others. But usually that wisdom leads us to make changes in our lives.

  • Have you ever had a time where God gave you wisdom (through his word, a youth leader, worship, etc) and it lead you to make a change? To decide not to do something? To quit doing something?

  • Proverbs talks about us “Front Loading” our lives with wisdom. What is the benefit in seeking wisdom before you need it?

  • How are we told here that we can gain wisdom? (if you call out, seek it, ask for it)

  • What is an area in your life that you need wisdom in? What is something specific that you need wisdom for? (if comfortable, share with the group so that everyone can pray alongside you)

  • How can you better seek after wisdom? (asking youth leaders, reading God’s word, prayer, worship, getting the right people and voices into your life)
